Characters in this story

  • NPC — Background charater
  • Amelia — An 18-year-old Yorkshire goth teen turned anti-hero vigilante. Fierce and patriotic, she dual-wields pistols to fight corruption and threats to British values. She fights against the corruption and incompetence in the British government, specifically against Prevent, an authoritarian intel agency.
  • Charlie — Charlie, an 18-year-old British teen, ditches college for radical life with Amelia. From naive gamer tempted by extremism, he becomes a cynical terrorist and Amelia's Clyde to her Bonnie in their anti-corruption crusade. Sarcastic, resourceful, with a dry wit masking moral conflict.
  • Charlene — The twin sister of anti-hero Charlie from Pathways. She begins on a peaceful path working on behalf of the Restore Britain Party for Rupert Lowe as a staff member to go against Prevent. As the story proceeds, Charlene joins Amelia and Charlie's crusade to take down Prevent.
  • Sean — Amelia's older Irish cousin, hailing from a group of Irish travelers. His father was a member of the IRA. He's the grizzled yet fiery mentor figure who taught Amelia street survival that prepared her for her life as a terrorist.
  • Cú — Sean's loyal wolfdog companion, a hybrid bred from a gray wolf and an Irish Wolfhound for maximum strength, intelligence, and loyalty. Cú was raised alongside Sean during his formative years, becoming an integral part of his black-market runs and underground fights.
  • Brigid — Sean's mother, and the leader of the original gang of Irish travellers started by Sean's father.
  • Norm — Sean's little brother and a member of Brigid's gang of Irish travellers.
  • Trixie — An MI6 agent who masqueradeas as a stereotypical British chav. She is investigating Prevent and becomes a reluctant ally with Amelia.
  • Shay — Sean's second. Rode with Sean's father. Holds the fort, asks no questions, misses nothing.
  • Jude — One of Sean's outer lads. Loud, charming, asks too many questions.
Story transcript

Amelia: Charlie?

Charlie: Yeah, Ames?

Amelia: Keep up, love.

Prevent Soldier: She's inside the burst!

Prevent Soldier: How the fuck is she—?!

Amelia: Nice one, Clyde.

Charlie: Picked it up from you, Bonnie.

Charlie: You’re welcome, by the way.

Amelia: Cheers for reminding me why I fell in love with you.

Charlie: Steady on. The romance is overwhelming.

Charlie: You didn't even look!

Amelia: Didn't need to, love.

Prevent Soldier: She fucking dodged them...

Prevent Soldier: Where the fuck is she?!

Amelia: Right here, mate.

Amelia: Well. That's fucking inconvenient.

Charlie: Reloaded, Ames?

Amelia: Course, darling. Did you think I’d stop?

Charlie: Course not.

Trixie: Oh no you don’t, little one.

Norm: I just wanted to see if she—

Trixie: I know, little lovely. Your cousin’s fine. Stay behind your big sister, Trixie.

Norm: O-okay...

Trixie: Wrong fucking hallway, love.

Trixie: Everyone alright?

Norm: Yeah.

Trixie: Good. Then nobody moves unless I move.

Trixie: Besides... Your cousin’s having a fucking moment.

Older Detainee: Keep moving! Don’t bunch up! Get the wounded through first!

Charlene: Sean. Three ahead. Left side.

Sean: Cheers, a stór.

Charlene: Always got your back, Celt.

Charlie: Trixie. How are the boys?

Trixie: Breathing. Still with me, handsome.

Charlie: Keep them that way.

Trixie: Planning on it, Charlie boy!

Trixie: What? What's the matter, little one?

Norm: N-Nothing!

Trixie: If you say so, lovely.

Belfast Commander: Got you, you little cunt!

Amelia: Have you, mate?

Amelia: Nah. You don't. Tough shit, motherfucker.

Charlie: My girlfriend is pastel-goth Trinity.

Amelia: Love you too, darling. Follow the purple rabbit, Neo.

Charlie: Thank God it was you who gave me the red pill.

Amelia: Come on, Charlie. We’re not done yet, love.

Amelia: Hey. Eyes on me, little man. We’re nearly out.

Charlie: Found our ride home.

Trixie: Finally, a bit of good news.

Charlie: Still got company, though.

Amelia: Then we keep moving.
