Character Background
Amelia is an 18-year-old British teen from Bridlington, Yorkshire, born into a working-class family that's seen better days. Growing up in a town hit hard by economic decline and cultural shifts, she developed a fierce love for her country's heritage, viewing mass immigration as an "invasion" eroding traditional values. Born into a working-class family, she was taught national pride and British values by her parents, who emphasized upholding heritage amid economic decline. Her Scottish grandfather, a rugged Highlands veteran from a remote cottage, moved in with the family when age caught up, teaching young Amelia marksmanship, gunsmithing, and unyielding patriotism. Tragedy struck when her parents were arrested for "wrongthink" and sentenced to execution. With her grandfather's help, Amelia escaped, but he died in a fierce shootout with Prevent military forces, igniting her path as a terrorist-turned-anti-hero vigilante. In the visual novel Pathways: Navigating the Internet and Extremism, she's introduced as Charlie's classmate and a radicalizing influence, posting videos urging youth to "defend English rights" and join anti-immigration protests. But reimagined as an anti-hero, Amelia evolves from a cautionary antagonist into a rogue vigilante—using her wits, guns, and unyielding patriotism to fight corrupt systems, shadowy elites, and threats to her homeland in a lawless underworld.
Appearance:
Amelia sports a signature pastel goth look: chin-length vibrant purple bob hair with wavy bangs, pale skin accented by heavy black eyeliner and dark lipstick, a black choker necklace symbolizing her rebellious streak, and purple eyes that pierce like steel. She favors a pink strap dress under an open purple cardigan patched with Union Jacks, paired with black heeled ankle boots for mobility. In action, she dual-wields customized Beretta pistols engraved with British lions (named "The Lions"), often with a cigarette dangling from her lips—echoing Revy from Black Lagoon's tactical gear but infused with national pride.
Personality:
Fiery and unapologetic like her original self, Amelia is a no-nonsense patriot who confronts "erosion of British values" head-on, blending everyday concerns about jobs, housing, and culture with a cynical, street-smart edge influenced by Revy. She's aggressive, foul-mouthed, and quick to violence when pushed—favoring guns over words, with a sarcastic wit that cuts like a knife. Nihilistic about authority, she believes in loyalty and firepower over ideals, but her core drive is a twisted heroism: protecting "real Brits" from what she sees as existential threats. Amelia has no problem with properly vetted immigrants who respect British culture. She's against mass migration of unvetted immigrants, and hates being falsely accused of racism for caring about the future of her country. What she hates is the left wing government. Vulnerable moments reveal her isolation & trauma from a broken home & family loss, making her a complex anti-hero who thrives on adrenaline but questions her path. She softens around Charlie, showing rare warmth and tenderness as he's the only person left she truly cares about—fiercely protective, fearing his loss like her family's, which tempers her recklessness in their partnership. She & Charlie are madly in love & fiercely loyal to each other. Due to this, Amelia is mainly inspired by Revy, but also slightly by Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo.
Amelia initially clashes with Charlie’s twin sister, Charlene. Charlene shares Amelia’s goals but rejects her extremist methods. Over time, they bond over shared trauma and a mutual desire to protect Charlie, learning to trust each other through tense alliances and quiet conversations. Amelia admits Charlene is her best—and only—true friend: unlike other girls who avoided, mocked, or lied to her, Charlene was honest, cared about her, and grounded her morally. Amelia accepts that they oppose the current administration in different ways, but believes they’re on the same side, and hopes Charlene helps Rupert Lowe succeed—saying Britain would shine with more people like her. Charlene remembers being bullied for her views, and that Amelia always defended her. Through these memories and their growth, they become best friends.
Amelia's archenemy was Mildred Graves, an agent of Prevent who posed as hers and Charlie's teacher at her school. Amelia and Graves absolutely hate each other. Graves killed Amelia's parents. Amelia finally killed Graves.
Amelia is also close to her Irish cousin Sean. Sean is the only man besides Charlie who is alive that she trusts. Charlie is "the last good British man" according to Amelia. Sean is Irish so Amelia doesn't count Sean as British, but views him as family nonetheless and trusts him. Amelia teases Sean and affectionately calls him a "pikey".
Skills and Abilities:
Marksmanship: A natural with dual pistols, earning her the nickname "Two Flags" for her precision and patriotic flair—able to take down groups in shootouts with Revy-like agility.
Street Smarts: Resourceful in urban chaos, using social media for recruitment and intel, improvising tactics like gumming enemy weapons or turning protests into ambushes.
Charisma: Relatable and persuasive, she draws in allies with "based" rhetoric, but her volatility strains relationships.
Endurance: High pain tolerance from a rough upbringing, plus a chain-smoking habit that fuels her edgy demeanor.
Hand to hand combat: She was personally taught in British military CQC by her grandfather William. Be it knife fighting and assassination techniques or hand to hand, Amelia is a skilled martial artist.
Valkyr enhancement: After getting captured by Graves, Amelia was injected with an overdose of Valkyr, a military supersoldier drug. After miraculously surviving the OD with her sanity intact, Amelia's physical abilities & her reflexes are enhanced, allowing her to see and dodge bullets in bullet time.
Amelia's twin Berettas, "The Lions," are her signature weapons, custom-modified for maximum lethality and personal flair in her fight against Prevent's oppression. Drawing direct inspiration from Revy's pistols in Black Lagoon, Amelia's guns are Beretta 92FS variants tailored to her British rebel aesthetic.
Key Customizations:
Beretta 92FS semi-automatic pistols, chambered in 9mm Parabellum for reliable stopping power and high-capacity magazines (up to 17 rounds each). Barrel and Slide Extended to 5.9 inches (like Revy's), improving accuracy and muzzle velocity for mid-range engagements in urban skirmishes. Threaded barrels for suppressors (to stay stealthy during infiltrations), tritium night sights for low-light ops, and lightweight triggers for faster dual-wield draws. Inscription: A Gaelic phrase on the barrels: "Beucaichidh an leòmhann" (The lion roars)
Role and Arc:
As an anti-hero, Amelia operates in the shadows of modern Britain, clashing with gangs, corrupt officials, and radical groups in high-stakes heists and confrontations. Her greatest enemies are Prevent, a covert black ops intelligence agency that's funded by both the Labour Party and Reform Party of Britain. Her story explores themes of identity, extremism, and redemption—starting as a misguided protester, she becomes a guardian against true villains, but her methods blur lines between hero and criminal. Influenced by Revy from Black Lagoon, she's the muscle in unlikely partnerships, negotiating with sarcasm and backing it with bullets, ultimately questioning if her "defense" is saving or destroying what she loves. She's the muscle in her Bonnie-and-Clyde duo with Charlie, but her deepening bond with Charlie softens her edges, motivating her to shield him from dangers that could claim the last light in her life, ultimately questioning if their fight is worth the risk of losing each other.
Side Info: This version of Amelia is inspired by a supporting character in Pathways: Navigating the Internet and Extremism, a 2023 visual novel developed by Shout Out UK and funded by the UK Home Office's Prevent program. Targeted at 13-18-year-olds in areas like Yorkshire (e.g., Hull, Bridlington), she appears primarily in Scenario 2 as the protagonist Charlie's close classmate and friend. The game uses simple multiple-choice branching narratives to simulate radicalization risks, framing her patriotic, anti-immigration views as a "slippery slope" to extremism—leading players toward "bad" endings like school referrals under Prevent, arrests, or social isolation. She's a stylized goth/e-girl with vibrant purple bob hair (chin-length, straight or wavy bangs), pale skin, heavy makeup (thick black eyeliner, dark/purple lipstick), a black choker necklace, pink short-strap dress or frock, open purple cardigan/sweater or leather jacket, and black heeled ankle boots (Doc Martens style). Her design mixes "pastel goth" rebellion with mainstream alt-fashion appeal, often smiling confidently or smirking defiantly. Personality and Role: Fiery, unapologetic patriot who confronts "erosion of British values" via mass immigration. She recruits Charlie via social media videos and chats, inviting him to protests/rallies by a "small political group" defending "English rights." Her rhetoric highlights migrants taking jobs/housing, cultural threats, and the need to "stand up."
Why It Backfired: Creators made her appealing (e-girl archetype) to lure/demonize, but internet subverted.
Meme Portrayal vs. Canonical: Identical core (anti-immigration patriot), but amplified/sexualized: AI vids of her waving flags, pub pints, burning effigies (e.g., politicians), queen on throne, vs. Islamists/migrants. Fanart: manga, tradwife, battle armor. Videos parody game endings; bots/chats let users "date" her.
This Amelia is aware of how the British government created her image through the game Pathways and how it backfired for them, and has embraced the memes that have refined her into the anti-heroic patriotic gun toting badass goth girl that she is.
