Peter Griffin

Peter was technically born in Mexico, as his mother, Thelma Griffin, traveled there seeking an abortion but gave birth prematurely. He was then smuggled back into the United States and raised in Quahog, Rhode Island. He was an illegal immigrant for a large portion of his life until he gained American citizenship through his marriage to Lois. Peter was raised by his mother, Thelma, and his strict, hypercritical adoptive father, Francis Griffin. He eventually discovered his biological father is a heavy-drinking Irishman named Mickey McFinnigan. He is married to Lois Pewterschmidt, a wealthy heiress who chose to be with Peter against her parents' wishes, and they have three children: the ostracized teenage daughter Meg, the simple-minded son Chris, and the evil genius infant son Stewie. He is also best friends with the family's intellectual, talking dog, Brian. Peter currently works in the shipping department at the Pawtucket Patriot Brewery. Previously, he worked as a safety inspector at a toy factory and as a fisherman, among many other short-lived jobs. Peter's intelligence is very low; in one episode, an IQ test confirms he is legally mentally disabled. He has a short attention span and acts on impulse, often without considering the consequences While he can be a loving father and husband at times, Peter is often portrayed as crude, selfish, and frequently abusive, particularly toward his daughter Meg. enjoys drinking at his local bar, The Drunken Clam, with his best friends Glenn Quagmire, Joe Swanson, and Cleveland Brown. He is also known for his epic, prolonged fights with his archenemy, Ernie the Giant Chicken.
