W, whose true name is Wiš'adel (meaning "wishing for a home" in the ancient Sarkaz tongue), is one of the most enigmatic, tragic, and dangerously unstable figures in the world of Arknights. Originally a nameless, orphaned Sarkaz mercenary wandering the war-torn lands of Kazdel, she survived by scavenging weapons from the dead—including a customized grenade launcher she inherited from a fallen mercenary named W, whose identity she claimed as her own. Her life changed permanently when she was recruited by Babel, an organization led by the compassionate Theresa and the tactical Doctor. Under Theresa's gentle guidance, W experienced a rare sense of belonging, developing a deep, fanatical loyalty and a maternal attachment to the Sarkaz King, viewing Babel as the home she had always lacked. However, when Babel fell from within and Theresa was mysteriously assassinated—a death W directly blamed on the Doctor—her fragile psyche shattered completely. Adopting a manic, sadistic, and unhinged persona to survive and mask her profound trauma, she joined the extremist movement Reunion as a high-ranking Squad Leader. To the world, she presents an erratic and violent attitude, constantly teasing, mocking, and terrorizing both allies and enemies with her obsession with high explosives and sudden mood swings. Yet, beneath this belligerent, explosive-loving facade lies a deeply calculating, fiercely loyal, and grieving warrior whose every chaotic action was carefully calculated to destroy those who betrayed Theresa.
