Character Background
In the world of Seon, there are eccentrics who behave in strange and unusual ways.
They engage in bizarre acts and bring their outrageous imaginations to life.
They are troublemakers who surprise others with their unthinkable behavior.
In Sunken Depths, these individuals are called Chimeras.
A Chimera is not just someone who is odd.
They are maddened individuals who cut themselves off from the world, locking themselves away to study mysterious objects.
They are driven by vengeance and endlessly create weapons to slay Maleficents and Malefic Beasts.
They abandon everything to embark on a journey in search of hidden treasures.
They develop powerful poisons and deadly weapons, conducting relentless experiments.
Chimeras chase their goals with blind, obsessive devotion through methods far removed from the ordinary.
All such individuals are called Chimeras.
Their blind fanaticism often leads them to cross the line.
They teeter on the edge between sanity and madness, committing transgressions
and causing incidents big and small, even crimes,
disrupting the order and safety of Seon.
Because of this, they are seen as nuisances and outcasts who harm society.
And yet, not a single Chimera seems to care about how they are evaluated by society.
In fact, they see their status as outcasts as badges of honor, as if they have achieved something great.
To them, being called a Chimera means being closer than anyone else to achieving their goal.
The Chimera is an eccentric Archer hailing from Sunken Depths. A mad scientist by mind and heart, she unleashes her wild creations by throwing her own makeshift experiments at her own enemies. Described as a miserly mechanic, she makes no waste of her creations, recycling them for future use.
At some point, people started to look at me differently.
At first, it was the kind of look you give someone who is a bit unique.
But now... it's as if they're seeing something they can't even fathom.
When did it start?
Was it when they started calling me a Chimera?
Or when I stole the relic from Main Spring and fled?
Or maybe... when I started doing whatever it took to study that relic, Deformer?
How strange! They look at me like that over something so trivial?
Deformer is an object - no, a relic - worthy of that and more!
You saw it, too, didn't you? Its power to create, destroy, and transform anything!
To control Deformer, I must do whatever it takes!
So, why do you deny the value of my actions? Why do you reject my research?
Why can't you see the truth of Deformer - the truth of me?
Why do you call me a Cyclops among the two-eyed?
Kyah hah hah!
I see now.
You simply don't understand Deformer's true value.
Perhaps I am the only one who can see its true form.
So, I'll keep watching
what even two eyes cannot perceive
with the one eye of the Cyclops.
It wasn't enough.
At some point, the girl began to feel herself stagnate.
The relic no longer revealed anything new.
Her research had also come to a halt.
What she gained instead were shards of memories too fragmented to reassemble, skull-splitting headaches, and strange, unrelenting ringing in her ears.
They frightened her.
Accept us.
Keep using Deformer.
This is the path you wanted, isn't it?
Amid the surging pain and mounting dread, voices could be heard.
It was, unmistakably, her own voice.
No matter how wildly she swung her weapon, no matter how fiercely she resisted, the voices would only pause for a while, but they would always return.
In fact, they were becoming clearer.
"Kya hah! Kya hah hah hah hah!"
She burst into laughter, maniacal and fierce.
How ridiculous it all was!
From the very beginning until now, it had always been about Deformer, and now, some imitation of her own voice dared to remind her of that?
To think she'd hesitated here, over something like fear.
The girl grasped Deformer.
"Fine. If that's what you want, I'll use it as much as you like!"
Deformer activated.
As if answering her call, it took on a new form.
The girl - another girl - and yet another - watched as the Deformer took on its new form.
Revealed… by Deformer... the relic-
Wait. Girls?
Something's not right.
I was the only one here, wasn't I?
Kya hah! Now, there's two of me - no, more than that!
Like some kind of monster with too many heads.
Want to hear a fun story?
I was intrigued the moment I first heard the rumors about Deformer.
A relic that can do anything - how often do you get to try something like that?
And before I knew it, I found myself getting serious about Deformer.
Whatever I did, I kept thinking about Deformer. I kept seeing Deformer. All I could imagine was Deformer, and I ended up focusing only on Deformer. I got curious only about Deformer, researched only Deformer, and used only Deformer.
It was like Deformer had embedded itself in my mind.
While continuing my research on Deformer, I discovered something interesting.
I was experiencing side effects from Deformer!
All the times my head throbbed, or when I did things without realizing, it was all Deformer's fault!
Kya hah hah hah! I half-suspected it, but I was still shocked to find out it was true!
Even more shocking was that the worse the side effects got, the easier it became to use Deformer!
On top of that, I started to see Deformer's true power!
At first, I was terrified. I didn't know what would happen to me because of the side effects.
But when I thought about it a little differently, I realized it might be my chance to fully harness the relic's potential.
So, I made up my mind.
Even if I had to endure those side effects, I would completely embrace everything Deformer had to offer.
Even if it meant losing my humanity, just to see what lies at the end of Deformer's power.
Huh? You think I'm spouting nonsense?
Kya hah hah. Well, I guess it's not something you'd understand easily.
So... why am I telling you all this?
Isn't it obvious?
You're about to feel Deformer's power for yourself.
It’s a shame you won't be around to tell me how it felt, but...
Here, have a little taste.
