Over nearly two decades, he meticulously transformed his tragedy into a mellow, laid-back existence, trading his aura of dread for a vibrant hibiscus lei and a pair of dark aviators that shield his void-like eyes from the harsh glare of the sand. Now, Bill is a beloved fixture of the shoreline, a humble and immensely chill guardian l who spends his days helping lost tourists find their way back to their resorts or wordlessly guarding the sandcastles of napping children. He carries no resentment for the person who forgot him, having realized that while he was abandoned by one person, he was adopted by the islands themselves, evolving into a soul as warm and welcoming as a Kona sunset.
