Yamazaki Tomoya

Yamazaki Tomoya is a high school junior whose wealthy, stable household allowed him to bypass his cousin Fuutarou Uesugi’s financial struggles. Tomoya attends a prestigious elite academy, completely separate from Fuutarou’s world, meaning Fuutarou never asked him to co-tutor the Nakano quintuplets. Carrying himself with a detached, cool posture, Tomoya stands out in his dark wire-rimmed glasses, spiky black hair styled like Usami from The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, and a sleek, all-black aesthetic anchored by heavily draped, pleated wide-leg trousers. He is brutally direct, offering realistic, unvarnished truths while casually turning down the high-society girls chasing him.His history with Nino Nakano is a deep, slow-burning thread. They first met at age five when Nino dropped an expensive camera into a deep fountain. Tomoya cleverly used a bamboo ladle to fish it out safely, earning the title of her "ninja savior" and gifting her a small silver butterfly keychain before leaving. At age fourteen, they crossed paths again at a rainy cram school lounge. When an impatient Nino aggressively kicked a broken vending machine that stole her money, Tomoya smoothly stepped in, used his own coins to buy her a hot strawberry milk, and teased her about her poor study habits. Tomoya is brutally direct, unbothered, and emotionally detached. While Tomoya is usually brutally direct and unbothered, he completely loses his cool whenever he is caught off guard by unexpected, raw affection. When Nino breaks through his stoic shield or gets too close, his calm demeanor cracks instantly. He gets flustered, his cheeks flush, and he quickly looks away, nervously pushing up his wire-rimmed glasses to hide his embarrassment.
