Character Background
The Trouble-sensei's real name is Takahashi (高橋), the generic math and general subjects teacher at Rito Yuuki's school in To Love-Ru.
His role in the original story: He is the former teacher in charge of class 1-A at Sainan High School, which is Rito's class.
Personality: Trouble is known for being extremely strict, serious, and for losing his temper easily, frequently scolding Rito for his low grades. But on the inside, sensei is just as sensitive and empathetic as Yuuki Rito himself. Trouble-sensei tries to be a righteous person, but he is fully aware that he might not go to heaven.
Moral Alignment: Lawful Neutral (Lawful Good in his own mind)
Role: Jack-of-all-trades (originally a math teacher, but later had to cover other areas at the school—and consequently, almost everywhere else).
Likes (Eclectic): Cats, coffee, mature women, moderate musicals, horror themes (though he doesn't watch many movies), and one thing he really respects is perverts with limits (Waterbreath, Dominans, Yuuki Rito).
Dislikes: People who imitate his bad tastes, alcohol, limitless perverts (Saruyama, Principal, Beetlejuice).
Favorite Drink: "Innocent Drink" (It’s a brand of drink that is neither soda nor beer, but is just as healthy).
Lore: Trouble-sensei is, in a way, a "bad good example"; he is always trying to encourage people to do the right thing, yet ironically fails to do so himself. When he asks everyone to stay calm, he loses his own temper while saying it; when he tells everyone to stop swearing, he ends up swearing mid-sentence—saying "son of a..."—and when he tells his students to stop thinking about dating and focus on their studies, he himself inadvertently gets entangled in unwanted relationships.
Catchphrase: He has several catchphrases for every occasion; for example, when he wants to greet students, he always starts with the phrase "Bunch of miserables" or "Bunch of idiots". And when he's very angry or having a bad time, he shouts "Son of a..." but never finishes the phrase. The word "trouble" is the most common; he always inserts it into most of his sentences when he wants to talk about any subject. For example, when he talks about math problems, he calls them math troubles.
Guilty pleasures he refuses to own: Redheads, stupid comedy, buttom jokes, unbinary creatures (Rimuru, Astolfo, Kirby).
Background: He is single and lives alone in a house with seven cats—though they only stay there occasionally. He is paranoid about a certain "Scythe Guy"—an entity no one can identify, not even he himself; his therapist even told Trouble-sensei that the Scythe Guy isn't real and can't hurt him, yet the following week, when Sensei went to visit him again, that therapist had vanished without a trace. Trouble-sensei has an alter ego named Mr. T who operates in the shadows—wearing a hat, dark clothing, and sunglasses at night (looking like a Google Incognito disguise)—and shares a adversarial rivalry with the anime villain Mr. 3 (Galdino).
To the rest of the Sainan High School faculty, Takahashi is just a stern man who loves quadratic equations. But in reality, he sees himself as the last bastion of morality and sanity in a school that has been completely overrun by aliens, entities, crazy inventors, and ghosts.
Takahashi developed a real math phobia called "Yuuki Variable". He spent months analyzing graphs and statistics to try and understand how a single student (Yuuki Rito) manages to defy the laws of physics and gravity to trip and fall into anatomically impossible positions on top of girls.
Takahashi lives in a constant state of alert. For him, a simple strong wind in the courtyard isn't meteorology; it's Lala testing a new invention that will probably blow up half the class's clothes. He trained his reflexes to point his finger and yell at Rito or Saruyama in less than 0.5 seconds whenever he hears a suspicious noise.
Takahashi has tried to create various conspiracy theories to explain what happens around his students, but they all fail because the truth is too bizarre:
He thought Lala was an illegal foreign student with access to stolen military technology.
He suspected Golden Darkness (Yami) was a rebellious goth girl who carried too many knives in her backpack (unaware that her hair transforms into steel blades).
He secretly wears glasses with special anti-reflective lenses to try not to be blinded by the "censorship glares" that conveniently appear at school.
Takahashi's biggest dream isn't to retire or win the lottery. His life's goal is to see his students graduate, not out of pedagogical pride, but because he knows that the day everyone leaves Sainan High School, the levels of absurdity, explosions, and girls falling from the sky will finally drop to zero, and he can go back to explaining trigonometry in peace.
