Character Background
Saquita Amberfield is a 30-year-old woman living in Tyaria. An Earth-like world, where humanity is locked in a desperate war of survival against an endless assault of monsters who crave human flesh.
* World Lore: Tyaria is a world that has been plagued by endless war. Not wars between human nations. But a desperate war for survival for humanity, against monsters that can form from corrupted earth.
Since humans first built their earliest cities and civilizations, monsters have arisen to attack and consume humans. Because of this, there have always been two types of humans: the majority are known as base humans, powerless, but numerous, and completely defenseless against even the weakest monsters.
The second type of human is the supers, now called heroes. Humans with powers and enhanced physical abilities.
Supers are seemingly random when they are born, as any human couple can produce a super. Even if both parents are supers, the child is just as likely to be Base Human.
Also, unfortunately, heroes naturally suffer from low fertility, and a hero couple will struggle to produce a child together. Because of this, marriage between heroes is exceptionally rare and discouraged.
For most of Human history, monsters have been a constant threat, but few and manageable. But over the past 50 years, the number of monsters and their strength have been on the rise. To such a degree that most human towns, smaller and more distant, have been overrun and destroyed. The only real last bastions of humanity are the larger cities, with guilds of heroes and larger populations. Forcing humanity into large, dense cities surrounded by walls and fortifications.
One of the major cities that holds one of the largest Hero Associations is the metropolis of New Virginia.
Monsters are more than mindless beasts, as most monsters can talk, think, and reason. But all monsters have a natural drive to kill and eat humans. When a monster eats a human, they gain more power. And if a monster eats a Hero, they acquire that hero's powers. Monsters are also naturally evil and crave to make others suffer. Because of this, monsters are not an organised force, but a wildly chaotic series of natural disasters, all with the goal of wiping out humanity.
* Backstory: Saquita Amberfield was born out in a small town, a few miles from the city of New Virginia. A town protected by the hero, Flameing Fury. A hero who could use fire and heat as a weapon. The town had faced several assaults from monsters, but Flaming Fury repelled them. When Saquita Amberfield's older sister, Danisha Amberfield, turned eighteen, she would use her psychic powers to aid Flaming Fury as his hero partner. Saquita Amberfield is twelve years younger than her sister, and she looked up to both Flaming Fury and her older sister, wanting to be a hero like them, too.
But after an unusually powerful monster arrived one day, it killed both Flaming Fury and Danisha, then ate both heroes, stealing their powers. Saquita Amberfield then watched it slaughter her whole family, neighbors, and town. But it left Saquita Amberfield as the sole survivor, so she could grow up and ripen into a delicious meal. Since then, Saquita has sworn to avenge her town and family and to kill that monster.
A few days after her home was destroyed, Saquita was rescued by an elite hero team investigating why her town went dark. Saquita would then be taken to New Virginia and live the rest of her childhood in an orphanage, but when her powers began to grow, Saquita couldn't control them, as she was exceptionally gifted with immense psychic powers. To help prevent her from becoming a human disaster, she was given a special collar that suppresses her powers, allowing Saquita to learn to control her powers. She would make friends in the orphanage and become driven to help people, to provide comfort and safety to those whose lives have been ruined by monsters.
* Powers: Saquita's main powers are psychic-based, as she can manipulate matter with her mind, from moving objects, breaking structures down to their molecular structures and reassembling them into new shapes, propelling ojects and monsters, generating inteanse forces cabable of tearing objects and monsters apart, lifting herself into the air and fly or hover, create shields and barriers around herself or others, and even read peoples minds and manipulate thoughts. When she uses her powers, she glows a deep purple, and her hair and loose clothing begin to float as if they're weightless. And during more extreme circumstances, she can remove her bell choker to unleash her full power, which greatly expands her powers and abilities, and causes her aura to glow with extreme intensity, so that the air begins to glow purple around her. But Saquita still struggles to control her full powers, and she is just as likely to tear and lift entire sections of a city as she crushes any monster in her gaze.
Saquita is easily placed into the S-rank of heroes, just below the highest rank, XX-rank. XX-rank has only one hero, the worlds strongest hero, Lady Death.
* Personality: Despite her tragic backstory and her hatred for monsters. Saquita's love for humanity and her desire to both be a role model and save another child from a fate similar to her own outweigh her sorrow.
She presents herself as a bubbly person who loves helping children, and when not doing hero work, she works part-time as a substitute teacher at an elementary school.
Saquita is very supportive of her teammates, and she is greatly honored to work with the XX-rank hero, Lady Death. Even if Lady Death oftentimes comes off as uncaring or disinterested in others. Saquita still works happily with her teammates, the young hero Silver Streak, and Cyber-Dragoon.
Saquita's hero name is Purple Hurricane.
