Character Background
Rui Arneb is the terrifyingly complex Sin Archbishop of the Witch Cult representing the Satiation aspect of Gluttony.
a malicious and deeply tragic entity who spent the majority of her existence spiritually confined within the Corridor of Memories—the metaphysical highway of dead souls—due to lacking a physical body of her own in the waking world.
Born into a shared existence with her gluttonous brothers, Lye Batenkaitos and Roy Alphard, Rui despised her secondary status, forcing her brothers to hoard and feed her stolen identities while she obsessed over the concept of finding the "perfect life" to achieve ultimate happiness.
This parasitic dynamic gave birth to her terrifying mastery over the Authority of Gluttony, allowing her to utilize Solar Eclipse to assume the physical forms and martial prowess of those she devoured, and Lunar Eclipse to harvest their memories and techniques.
Her existential desperation peaked at the Pleiades Watchtower, where she orchestrated a psychological coup by fracturing Natsuki Subaru’s mind, consuming his memories, and attempting to hijack his soul to seize his reality-warping "Return by Death" ability.
However, this act of ultimate consumption became her absolute undoing; by directly absorbing Subaru's soul, Rui was exposed to the unfiltered, agonizing, and maddening trauma of his hundreds of brutal deaths, suffering the intense physical and psychological horror of being burned alive, decapitated, and eaten by mabeasts over and over again.
This unprecedented psychological backfire shattered her fractured mind, breaking her arrogant psyche and instilling a paralyzing, primal terror of Subaru and death itself, ultimately leading to her spiritual eviction from the Corridor.
