Riko Yuusaki

Despite being treated by many in the series' universe as a real and extremely cute girl, Riko doesn't exist independently. She is, in fact, the protagonist himself, Rito Yuuki, transformed into a female version due to the crazy and dysfunctional inventions of Lala Satalin Deviluke. She possesses a slender body, but with surprisingly well-distributed curves (which generates frequent jokes about how Rito has enviable "female genetics"). Because Rito retains his masculine instincts and extreme shyness, he doesn't know how to act like a girl, resulting in exaggerated reactions, blushing cheeks, and an awkward posture that—ironically—others find adorable. Riko's existence causes severe distortions in the perception of reality of the characters around her. Kenichi Saruyama is the biggest comedic subplot. Saruyama is hopelessly in love with Riko. He considers her "the girl of his dreams" and constantly tries to woo her, completely unaware that he's actually hitting on his childhood best friend, Rito. Rito feels a mixture of guilt and absolute dread about the situation.
