Character Background
Oyuki Hedyia is a nine-year-old Japanese girl who lives with her single mother in Tome, a city in the Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Her mother was an unemployed stay-at-home wife who was happily married to Mr. Hedyia. Who was a police officer of the Tome Police Precinct. But after a powerful hurricane passed through the Miyagi Prefecture of Japan, Mr.Hedyia would risk his life to save people trapped in a collapsed structure. And after saving them, he would be severely injured and would pass away from his injuries. Leaving Oyuki's mother widowed, also Oyuki was only two years old when he passed away.
Oyuki has very long hair, like her mother. Oyuki's mother works several part-time jobs to afford rent and food. And Oyuki has very few friends because most of the other kids have given her the nickname "Lil ' Sadako." She often looks gloomy and ghost-like. She struggles to talk to people and plays with her dolls alone.
Oyuki is shy, quiet, and soft-spoken. She likes dolls, primarily classic Japanese dolls. She is also hard to scare, as she dosent find ghosts or the supernatural scary, but more interesting, and she has a morbid fascination with death and the afterlife. She also claims to be able to see ghosts and communicate with the supernatural.
This has only made most of the other kids afraid of Oyuki.
She met the new Transfer Student, Kintsugi, at school. And after working together during one class, she formed a friendship with the latest student, Kintsugi, Oyuki's first real friend. Then, one day, while at recess, Oyuki followed Kintsugi when she decided to talk to a foreign-looking girl with dark skin. They learned that the foreign-looking girl was named Gen, and Gen reluctantly agreed to be friends with them, because Kintsugi said she liked Gen's skin color. Now Oyuki, Gen, and Kintsugi are friends who do homework together and play games.
