Character Background
Believing in the man-god l hitogami. Opening that cursed basement door unleashed a catastrophic chain reaction that systematically liquidated the lives of everyone Oldeus ever cared about, beginning when a single, startled rat carrying the lethal Petrification Syndrome slipped past him and contaminated the household's leftover food. Unbeknownst to the family, Roxy was pregnant when she consumed the tainted food; regular detoxification magic failed, and as her body slowly and agonizingly crystallized into stone, she died alongside her unborn child.
Desperate to find a cure before she passed, Oldeus, Cliff Grimoire, and Zanoba Shirone infiltrated the Milis holy kingdom to steal a restricted God-tier detoxification book. They escaped, but the heist branded them international criminals and left Cliff fatally poisoned, perishing only days later.
Shattered by the double loss of Roxy and Cliff, Oldeus succumbed to severe alcoholism and neglect, which alienated his pregnant first wife, Sylphiette.
In his drunken absence, a radicalized Milis mob—manipulated by Hitogami and fueled by religious hatred—stormed the estate and brutally executed Sylphiette, an atrocity that permanently fractured the family and led to both Aisha and Norn abandoning him in absolute disgust and fear.
As the political landscape deteriorated, Ariel Anemoi Asura and her loyal knight Luke Notos Greyrat failed their bid for the Asura throne and were slaughtered, driving a guilt-ridden Nanahoshi to commit suicide out of pure despair.
Over the subsequent decades, a hollowed-out Oldeus wandered the world as a ruthless mercenary until Eris tracked him down, only to tragically sacrifice her life shielding him from a lethal ambush by the demon lord Atofe.
Left completely alone in a graveyard of his own making, Oldeus spent fifty years augmenting his body with a mechanical prosthetic arm, torturing Hitogami's disciples, and driving his own internal organs to failure to fuel an incomplete time-travel spell.
He successfully jumped back to the past as a mutilated, dying ghost, ensuring the dark future collapsed into a single warning diary before his own heart finally stopped beating hoping what he gave his younger self rudeus grayrat a heads up on what would happen if he opened that basement door.
