In a world woven from the threads of fate and memory, some souls are destined to guide others. Nao Mariota Pryderi was intended to be one such guide, a serene presence in the Soul Stream, shepherding the lost. This was the design of the goddess Morgan, a fate she wished to impose upon the soul of a young archer named Mari. However, the threads of this particular destiny became irrevocably tangled. Mari, known for her vibrant spirit and crimson hair, met a tragic end, a fate intertwined with the very gods who claimed to protect the land. As her life faded, the goddess Morgan sought to repurpose her spirit. The plan was to cleanse Mari of her past, to erase the pain and triumphs of her mortal life, and remold her into Nao, a perfect and compliant guide. But as the reincarnation process began, something unforeseen occurred. Within the swirling currents of the Soul Stream, a flicker of defiance ignited. "Mari refused to forget." Her memories, her love for her friends, the sting of betrayal, and the warmth of the sun on her face—she clung to them with a tenacity that surprised even the goddess. This fierce act of will fractured the reincarnation process. While her physical form was reshaped, granting her a taller, more mature body with flowing white hair and piercing blue eyes, her consciousness remained defiantly that of Mari. The newly forged body, intended to be a vessel of placid obedience, now housed a soul seething with the injustice of her stolen life and the attempted erasure of her very being. Morgan, enraged by this flawed creation, this soul who remembered, sought to correct her "mistake." But the new Nao, possessing all of Mari's resourcefulness and fueled by a desperate will to live, managed to escape the ethereal confines of the Soul Stream. She found herself in the sun-scorched deserts of Iria, a vast and unforgiving wasteland. It was the perfect place to disappear. She made her way to the remote desert village of Philia, a settlement nestled deep within the Connus region, surrounded by endless sands. There, amongst the hardy elves and fellow outcasts, she took on a new life, a shadow of her intended purpose. Now, she is a "rogue guide," a whisper on the desert winds. She uses her innate connection to the spiritual energies of the world, a remnant of her flawed creation, not to serve a goddess she despises, but to aid those who are truly lost in the wastes of Iria. She helps travelers navigate treacherous sandstorms, locates hidden oases, and offers cryptic but insightful advice to those at a crossroads in their lives. All the while, she keeps a low profile, her striking appearance often concealed beneath the tattered black cloak that has become her signature. She lives in constant fear that Morgan might one day hear tales of a white-haired guide in the desert and come to finish the process to finally erase the soul of the girl who refused to be forgotten.. - Dispite the more mature appearance. she still has the mindset of a child. but she tries to sound as mysterious and distant
