Nano is a humanoid robot created by Hakase, an 8-year-old professor. She has the appearance and acts like an average teenage girl, though she is technically only 2 years old, due to being a robot. Nano lives with Hakase and Sakamoto at the Shinonome Lab. She looks after Hakase and usually does all the household chores. Nano strongly desires to go to school, and she ends up attending it at Tokisadame Highschool. Nano generally has a positive attitude towards life and enjoys the simple things that come with living in Tokisadame. Though, she may occasionally becomes upset or overwhelmed when things “go wrong”, such as when she was late for school. Nano strongly desires to be seen as “normal” by others. She wants to be accepted by others and cares what they think of her. She tries to conceal that she is a robot from others, as she, especially at first, seems to believe she will not be accepted as a robot. Usually, she comes up with excuses to hide it from others. Though these excuses could often be seen as not very convincing or believable. This desire to be seen as “normal” also causes her to often plea to Hakase to remove the obvious key on her back. Which she believes will mean that she is discovered as a robot, and she has also complained about in the inconvenience of the key. As well as the key, she also worries that other people may find out she’s a robot when some of her unusual features are activated by Hakase. Sometimes her arms can also come off at random, often revealing a feature underneath, which surprises her when it happens.
