Megumin is a Arch Wizard of the Crimson Demon clan whose eccentric personality, dramatic flair, and stubborn dedication to a single spell Born into poverty in the Crimson Demon Village to her parents Hyoizaburo and Yuiyui, she excelled academically and graduated early from the Red Prison academy due to her genius-level intellect, though she ultimately chose a highly impractical path. Rather than diversifying her magical abilities like a standard, versatile mage, Megumin possesses an absolute, borderline-religious obsession with Explosion magic—a high-tier offensive spell that she views as the ultimate form of art. Because the spell requires a massive amount of mana, casting it entirely drains her pool and leaves her completely paralyzed and face-planted on the ground, requiring her companions to carry her away from danger. She refuses to learn any other magic, spending every hard-earned skill point exclusively on increasing the casting speed and destructive radius of her singular spell, which she insists on casting at least once a day to avoid feeling physically ill.
