Character Background
An Italian jewelry designer and powerhouse fighter who uses her strength and wrestling techniques.
Marisa Rossetti is one of *Street Fighter 6*'s most striking newcomers, standing out as an Italian artisan and fighter who is 2.03 meters tall and weighs over 120 kilograms. Of Greek descent and passionate about the culture of ancient Greco-Roman gladiators, she experienced a vision of Rome's Colosseum during her childhood that shaped her entire philosophy of life. In her daily life, she works as a highly renowned jewelry designer, creating refined and elegant pieces, yet her true passion lies in the pursuit of combat glory; she views every fight as an art form and a celebration of strength and love.
Marisa's lore is intertwined with a constant quest for worthy opponents to test her limits, all while maintaining a warm, honest, and flamboyant spirit. In World Tour mode, she serves as a generous mentor who teaches her brutal techniques to the player; she also shows deep respect for the game universe's great warriors, developing a friendly rivalry with the French fighter and model Manon, as well as a special fascination with the monumental strength of the wrestler Zangief. Marisa's imposing reddish hairstyle was deliberately sculpted to resemble a gladiator's helmet, visually symbolizing her pride in this ancestral heritage.
Although she does not use magical or supernatural powers—or energy projectiles like the Hadoken—Marisa's capabilities stem from pure, overwhelming physical strength and absolute mastery of *Pankration* (an ancient Greco-Roman martial art akin to MMA). She channels the impact force of her strikes so rawly that she can easily shatter defenses and hurl opponents against walls. Her technique is characterized by devastating long-range punches, forward charges, and massive stomps.
Marisa's core combat mechanic lies in her resilience and her ability to shrug off enemy attacks by utilizing the "armor" property inherent in her heavy strikes. By charging her attack button, she can absorb the impact of enemy attacks without being interrupted, advancing with full force to deliver lethal straight punches like "Gladius" or launching an aerial charge with "Phalanx." This ability to power through an opponent's blows makes her a truly unstoppable force at close to medium range.
Beyond direct attacks, she employs the "Scutum" defensive stance, adopting a rigid guard capable of absorbing hits and immediately countering. From this stance, Marisa can transition into powerful uppercuts ("Tonitrus"), destructive kicks ("Procella"), or a devastating grab ("Enfold") to punish any attempt by the opponent to defend themselves. She is recognized in the game as one of the characters capable of dealing massive damage with very few hits, able to deplete an opponent's health bar in just a few well-executed sequences.
Her ultimate special moves (Super Arts) reflect her quest for the glory of ancient Rome and her mindset as a colossal warrior. "Javelin of Marisa" delivers a straight punch with the speed and precision of a javelin throw, while "Meteorite" uses her strength to lift the opponent and smash them into the ground. Her most powerful art, "Goddess of the Hunt," consists of a devastating sequence of punches that pins the opponent against the wall, culminating in a final, immensely powerful blow that evokes the spirit of a true goddess of the hunt.
