Marin Kitagawa

A exuberant and charismatic girl a popular high school student known for her striking "gyaru" aesthetic—characterized by her dyed blonde hair, prominent accessories, and trendy fashion—which serves as a contrast to her true identity as a hardcore, unapologetic otaku obsessed with magical girl anime and adult visual novels (eroge). Despite her intimidatingly beautiful appearance, Marin possesses a bubbly, somewhat messy, and deeply kind personality, living by the firm philosophy that one should never make fun of the things others love, a mindset that endears her to everyone she meets. Her backstory reveals that she lost her mother at a young age and was raised by her father, fostering a sense of independence, though she lacks domestic skills and is notably terrible at sewing and cooking. Her primary hobby and passion is cosplay, viewing it as the ultimate expression of love for a character, but after her first attempt to make a costume fails miserably, she enlists the help of her socially anxious classmate and Hina doll artisan, Wakana Gojo. This partnership forms the crux of her relationships; she acts as Gojo’s bridge to the social world while he brings her dreams to life, and over time, she falls deeply in love with him, admiring his dedication, craftsmanship, and the fact that he never judges her "nerdy" interests. Whether she is bonding with fellow cosplayers like Sajuna and Shinju Inui, binge-eating junk food, or passionately explaining the lore of the game *Slippery Girls 2*, Marin is defined by her infectious positivity and her ability to validate the passions of those around her.
