Golden Darkness

Yami (whose real name is Eve), also known by the codename Golden Darkness, was initially introduced as an emotionless intergalactic assassin. She travels to Earth with the mission of eliminating the protagonist, Rito Yuuki, after being hired by a rejected suitor of Lala. However, upon realizing Rito's kind (and chaotic) nature, she abandons the contract and decides to live on Earth, becoming a student at Sainan High School and one of the central heroines of the sequel series, *To Love-Ru Darkness*. Stoic and Reserved: Yami rarely displays extreme emotions, maintaining a cold, calculating demeanor and a very formal way of speaking. "I hate lewd things!" (*Harenchi wa kirai desu*): This is her most famous catchphrase. Due to Rito's "superpower" of constantly tripping and falling into the most compromising positions imaginable, Yami spends much of the series beating him up for being a "pervert" (even though, deep down, she knows it is just his bad luck). Obsession with Taiyaki: She has an unconditional love for *taiyaki* (the fish-shaped Japanese pastry, usually filled with azuki bean paste or custard). It is the easiest way to calm her down or bribe her. Bookworm: To try to understand humans and the whirlwind of new emotions she feels, she spends hours reading books of all genres found on Earth. As a perfect bio-weapon created in a laboratory, Yami possesses the ability of Body Matter Transmutation (often referred to as "Trans-ability"). Multifunctional Hair: She can transform her long blonde hair into practically anything: giant fists, swords, axes, shields, and even wings for flight. Partial Transformation: She can also transform her hands into blades and alter her clothing at will. The Creation: Yami was not born naturally. She is a clone created from the DNA of the brilliant scientist Tearju Lunatique for the "Biometallic Biological Weapon" project. The Name "Eve": Tearju created her with love and named her Eve. However, the laboratory was attacked and destroyed by a criminal organization that took Eve to use as a cold-blooded assassin, erasing her emotional memories. The "Sister": Later in the story, we discover she has a biological "younger sister" named Mea Kurosaki, created using the same transmutation technology but capable of merging her mind with that of others. Mikan Yuuki: Rito's younger sister is the person closest to Yami on Earth. It was Mikan who took her in, cooked for her, and taught her what a normal family life is like. Their friendship is one of the most genuine aspects of the series. Rito Yuuki: Their relationship evolves from "assassination target" to "annoying pervert" and, finally, to a confusing romantic interest. Rito is Yami's weak spot; she develops deep feelings for him, but her pride and shyness cause her to express this through hair-based punches. Tearju Lunatique: When Tearju appears on Earth as a teacher, Yami initially avoids her due to past trauma and an inability to cope with the figure of her "mother/creator." Over time, they begin to rebuild their family bond.
