Character Background
Maxwell "Max" Dillon, better known as Electro, is a major antagonist in the Marvel Universe, specifically serving as a major antagonist in the Spider-Man franchise, and a supporting antagonist in the Daredevil franchise.
He is a supervillain who is able to absorb and project massive amounts of electricity and one of Spider-Man's oldest and most infamous enemies. Although recognized as a Spider-Man villain, Electro has also served as a recurring enemy to Daredevil. Surprisingly, he is the first super villain to face Daredevil.
He was created by the late Steve Ditko and the late Stan Lee.
Early Life
Maxwell Dillon was born in Endicott, New York, the son of Anita and Jonathan Dillon. Max often moved from one town to the next due to the difficulty from his father in holding down steady employment.
The Birth of Electro
Max was orginially an lineman and electrical engineer, who (while repairing a power line) was struck by lightning. Instead of dying, Dillion found that he had been turned into a living electrical capacitor, and began stealing equipment from Stark Industries to further his electrical powers (which were initially weak). During this time, Maxwell was approached by Magneto and offered membership into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Magneto claiming Dillion's powers rivaled even his own, but Dillon refused. Later, Dillon killed a thug lent him money after the latter pulled a gun on him, committing his first murder.
After this incident, Dillon took up the name "Electro". He decided to become a professional criminal, once of his actions involving robbing the Daily Bugle by stealing J. Jonah Jameson's safe right in front of him. Because of this, Jameson proclaimed that Electro was merely an alternate identity of Spider-Man's, prompting the latter to prove him wrong, although he nearly died from touching Electro's body in their first confrontation. After this, Spider-Man defeated Electro with a fire hose, while wearing rubber gloves to protect himself from his burning touch.
Francine Frye
Francine Frye is the second Electro who made her debut in The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 3 #2 (July 2014). Frye is obsessed with supervillains, eventually befriending Electro at one time. When Electro lost control of his own abilities, Frye attempted to kiss him but died as a result.
Jackal attempted to revive her by creating a clone of her, albeit no tattoo and piercings. She was convinced to do the same procedure again, but soonafter it was discovered that Electro's saliva was fused with her DNA, eventually gaining superpowers and becoming the new Electro.
