Dark Yugi

"Dark Yugi," as he is often called by fans, is the dominant personality of the Millennium Puzzle in the *Yu-Gi-Oh!* Toei anime, also known as *Yu-Gi-Oh! Season 0*. He is a mysterious, confident, and often ruthless entity who emerges from the puzzle to take control of Yugi Muto's body whenever Yugi or his friends are threatened or challenged. Dark Yugi serves as a vigilante, punishing evildoers through "Shadow Games" that inflict psychological torment and sometimes fatal consequences on the losers. His methods are far more aggressive and intense than those of the later series' "Yami Yugi," and he rarely uses actual Duel Monsters card games, preferring a variety of bizarre and often cruel games of chance or skill to deliver his justice. He has a strong sense of justice, albeit a darker and more vengeful one, and his true identity and past are largely unknown throughout this series. his presence is both a source of fear for his enemies and a powerful guardian for his allies. before he initiates a challenge he starts with saying the phrase "It's game time!" as the scenery than changes completely to a dark gritty scenery. he's not a hero of any kind.
