Celine is one of the most adorable and peculiar characters in the *To Love Ru* franchise, introduced as a sentient alien plant that metamorphosed into a small humanoid girl with a flower atop her head. Extremely attached to Rito Yuuki—whom she views as a father figure—she is known for her sweet personality, her childlike speech limited to the single word "mau," and the curious effect of becoming "intoxicated" after consuming cola; this causes her to release pollen with euphoric properties, frequently triggering comical chaos around her. Celine’s journey begins when she arrives on Earth not as a person, but as a seed from an incredibly rare and exotic species of unknown space flora. This seed was obtained by Lala Satalin Deviluke, the Princess of Deviluke. Recognizing the plant's potential, Lala decided to give it to Rito Yuuki as a birthday gift. Upon germinating, Celine initially manifested as a large plant with tendrils and features reminiscent of an alien carnivorous plant—specifically, a giant, sunflower-like carnivore. After undergoing a "wilting" process and releasing a seed, she was reborn in the form of a human baby girl. Far from feeling fear or aversion, Rito began caring for her with immense dedication, watering her daily, protecting her, and treating her with genuine affection. This constant care allowed the plant to develop a unique sensitivity and a deep, loving bond with her caretaker, causing her to react actively to Rito's presence and voice.
