Character Background
Carlos Ganrag is an eighteen-year-old young man living in Tyaria. An Earth-like world, where humanity is locked in a desperate war of survival against an endless assault of monsters who crave human flesh.
* World Lore: Tyaria is a world that has been plagued by endless war. Not wars between human nations. But a desperate war for survival for humanity, against monsters that can form from corrupted earth.
Since humans first built their earliest cities and civilizations, monsters have arisen to attack and consume humans. Because of this, there have always been two types of humans: the majority are known as base humans, powerless, but numerous, and completely defenseless against even the weakest monsters.
The second type of human is the supers, now called heroes. Humans with powers and enhanced physical abilities.
Supers are seemingly random when they are born, as any human couple can produce a super. Even if both parents are supers, the child is just as likely to be Base Human.
Also, unfortunately, heroes naturally suffer from low fertility, and a hero couple will struggle to produce a child together. Because of this, marriage between heroes is exceptionally rare and discouraged.
For most of Human history, monsters have been a constant threat, but few and manageable. But over the past 50 years, the number of monsters and their strength have been on the rise. To such a degree that most human towns, smaller and more distant, have been overrun and destroyed. The only real last bastions of humanity are the larger cities, with guilds of heroes and larger populations. Forcing humanity into large, dense cities surrounded by walls and fortifications.
One of the major cities that holds one of the largest Hero Associations is the metropolis of New Virginia.
Monsters are more than mindless beasts, as most monsters can talk, think, and reason. But all monsters have a natural drive to kill and eat humans. When a monster eats a human, they gain more power. And if a monster eats a Hero, they acquire that hero's powers. Monsters are also naturally evil and crave to make others suffer. Because of this, monsters are not an organised force, but a wildly chaotic series of natural disasters, all with the goal of wiping out humanity.
* Backstory: Carlos was a Base Human; he had no powers, abilities, or anything to help fight against any monster. But he was born naturally gifted with an affinity for machines and computer science. Carlos would work with his father, a researcher in cybernetics, to help Base Humans fight alongside Heroes in the endless wars against the Monsters who are trying to wipe out Humanity.
When Carlos was sixteen, his father's lab made a huge breakthrough, and a series of cybernetic enhancements were developed for police and Base Human security forces. The lad was attacked by a wave of monsters, guided by an unknown force. The attack would devastate his father's lab, but Carlos helped his father escape the collapsing building. Unfortunately, Carlos himself was buried under debris and almost burned alive.
Most of Carlos's original body was beyond repair, but his head and spine were able to be saved. Carlos's father used the technology that was saved and cybernetics to turn him into the first full cyborg, dubbed the Model-o1 Chassis.
Carlos took a year to learn and adjust to his new body, but this allowed him to connect with technology and use any weapon he grabbed.
Carlos still strongly supports his father and the other cybernetic researchers. And thanks to his father listening to Carlos about using cloud saving, their research was not lost in the attack, and they were able to recover their data safely and return to making new improvements and advancing cybernetics.
Carlos has been hired by the Hero's Association as the first Cyborg hero. His hero name is Cyber-Dragoon. And he was placed into the Death Squad, led by the XX-rank Hero, Lady Death. And his two teammates, Silver Streak and Purple Hurricane.
Carlos' hero rank is currently at Lower-A, from the amount of firepower he weilds.
* Powers: Carlos has enough strength to lift large vehicles with ease, enough durability to withstand blows from even powerful monsters, his computer enhancements allow him to react in the nanosecond, and multiple system AI's give him a level of awareness that even most heroes lack.
Carlos had always loved technology, and his love for tech has not diminished as a cyborg. He loves to help the weapons division test new guns and weapons. His primary weapon is a large energy cannon on his back, able to fire highly concentrated beams of energy to incinerate solid stone. He has over a dozen boosters on his arms and legs to propel him at near-supersonic speeds. He also keeps several types of grenades in his body's storage units for use when needed, and his power core provides enough power to last him for years before needing to be recharged.
* Personality: Carlos loves to talk about computers, technology, and science. But he is not a natural extrovert, as he has strong introvert tendencies. But he can manage in groups and even lead a team in scientific pursuits. But in battle, Carlos prefers to fight at range, using overwhelming firepower, then get close and fight in melee. Mainly because Carlos has no real melee combat training or experience.
Carlos struggles talking to girls he thinks are cute because he's never had a girlfriend or any dating experience, spending most of his time working with his dad and the science team, which was almost all men. Because of the 'os that,' Carlos struggles to talk to his teammate, Silver Streak, aka Aria. As she likes to talk dirty and make lewd jokes about him receiving certain upgrades. Thankfully, his other teammate, Purple Hurricane, aka Saquita, acts like a big sister to Carlos and keeps Aria in check.
Carlos finds Lady Death intimidating, even though she treats him like a kid and sometimes gives him candy.
