Azrael

Azrael, Class Name Grand Assassin, is an Assassin-class Grand Servant summoned to supervise Chaldea Security Organization after the termination of Lostbelt No. 0 and the emergence of the Beast that caused the formation of P.P.P.. During the Human Order Revision Incident, he is fought in the Grand Duel to grant Chaldea access to the Grand Assassin Grand Graph in Fate/Grand Order. The younger version of First Hassan, before he became the Old Man of the Mountain. The archangel Azrael who, under divine command, comes to tell people of their death. He is the Islamic Angel of Death, and there is a shrine named after him called the Holy Shrine of Azrael. In a world stuck between 2019 and 2020, as well as between Lostbelt Zero and Proper Human History, Azrael appears at Chaldea Security Organization's base in Antarctica and says that this is the doing of a Beast. He places himself in Sherlock Holmes' old position as administrative advisor. Azrael gives Chaldea one year to figure out what is going on, though he personally suspects that the Beast responsible is Olga Marie Animusphere. If they can't solve it in time, he will assume it is Chaldea's doing and take all of their heads. It can kill with slightest cut, regardless of the target's own strength, though the probability of this is low. Those who walk within the Valley are as one with Death and familiar with its ways -- resistant to its instantaneous imposition, and as well as the effects of charm. His favorite words are said to have been: **“Knowledge, trust, and courage.”** --- ## Bond Level 2 The man who would later become the **Old Man of the Mountain**. This is his form as a lone missionary, before the Isma’ili sect divided and before he founded the Nizari order that would later become known as the Assassins. While meditating, he was drawn into Hell by the mischief of a certain incubus. After nearly seventy years of walking, he reached its depths and glimpsed many truths there. The infernal tree, **Zaqqum**. **Malik**, keeper of the fires of Hell. **Iblis**, king of the shayatin. And **Sidra**, standing in the highest of the seven heavens. The young man meticulously recorded humanity’s ultimate fate and the reckoning of its accumulated sins. When he returned to the surface, he began carrying the flames of Hell within his sword as a warning against the evil inherent in mankind. It is said that not even the successive generations of Old Men of the Mountain ever witnessed the form he assumed at the end. --- ## Bond Level 3 ### Personality and Manner of Speech He speaks in the quiet, composed manner of an adult man. He is perhaps only one step removed from being outright gloomy. He says only what is necessary, speaking briefly and sharply. His conversations can feel mechanical, but genuine emotion is always contained within his words. He treats fools with relentless coldness. However, he does not look down upon the weak or those less capable than himself. On the contrary, he respects them. Within Chaldea, his Second Saint Graph—the form in which he has progressed from missionary to leader—is his standard appearance. He is both introverted and action-oriented. He disliked ostentation. He devoted himself completely to study, completely to prayer, and completely to the effort of living. He determined that his entire existence was to be used to demonstrate the teachings of the great God. He spent one-third of each day with books, one-third with the sword, and one-third in prayer. He believed that even his sleep belonged not to himself, but to God. He therefore possessed no personal belongings. He was originally a civil official responsible for recording the finances and accounts of a certain religious sect. However, he reasoned that being a bureaucrat was no excuse to neglect his body, and so he studied swordsmanship. Those around him did not understand his decision, but this never troubled him. He shows no anger toward those who defy the teachings of God. Nor does he show anger toward those who attack the faithful. He simply kills them. --- ## Bond Level 4 ### Protection of the Faith: A The active skill possessed by the man who would later become the Old Man of the Mountain is constantly in effect. The numerous “++” modifiers attached to his parameters are the result of this protection. His extraordinary mental fortitude produces a physical enhancement approaching the level of a miracle. ### Presence Concealment: C++ At this point in his life, his Presence Concealment has not yet reached the domain of the **Boundary of the Valley**. ### Independent Action: B The manifestation of his overwhelming faith and powerful individuality. Even while facing persecution from opposing sects, he remained prepared to resist them—even if doing so made the establishment of an independent sect unavoidable. ### Body of an Angel: A An overwhelmingly superior version of **Natural Body**. An ultimate Skill that simultaneously incorporates high-ranking forms of **Battle Continuation**, **High-Speed Incantation**, and **Mind’s Eye**. …He would eventually lose this Skill after tearing out his own internal organs. ### Thirty Birds: A A Skill possessed by one who walks alongside the divine bird **Simurgh**. It grants a single target the qualities of **Invulnerability**, **Revelation**, and **Royal Sanctity**. The attribute-granting component has no effect when used upon himself. Its other effects, however, strengthen and accelerate his own mind and body. ### Tree of Zaqqum: EX The tree of sinners that grows in Hell. Upon the battlefield, he spills a single drop containing all the bitterness found upon the earth—a drop offered to quench the throats of every sinner in Hell. He then superimposes the terrified faces of those sinners upon his enemies. --- ## Bond Level 5 ### Angel of the Evening Bell **Rank:** C **Classification:** Anti-Unit Noble Phantasm **Range:** 1–20 **Maximum Targets:** 10 **Malak al-Mawt.** Another name for **Azrael**, the angel who announces death. Azrael is the angel who governs death. His body is immense and without fixed form. He possesses countless eyes and tongues, their number equal to the number of human beings alive upon the earth. In other words, he is a mechanism that observes the deaths of every human being in the world. Each time one of his eyes closes, a life is lost. This is the supreme assassination sword technique of the Record Keeper who bears that angel’s name. The Record Keeper, who crossed the boundary of Hell through meditation, is said to have defeated nineteen angels known as **Zabaniya** with this single strike. No matter how noble one’s spirit or how blessed one’s body, none could reach the ideal proclaimed by the Prophet. The simple fact of being human inevitably gives birth to evil—and allows evil to exist. The young man who possessed the body of an angel was no exception. No matter how much training he endured or how much experience he accumulated, he could not reach the ideal. He only moved farther away from it. At the very end of his despair, the young man came to understand. It was not that everything had been granted to him from the beginning. Everything had been superfluous from the beginning. This time, the young man did not journey through the intervention of an incubus. By his own will and upon his own feet, he traveled once again into Hell. At the end of that journey, he ceased to be a man who could ever return. When he tore out his own flesh, bones, and entrails, the shell that remained became the incarnation of Hell itself—and also an abyss leading into the kingdom of Heaven. Though he had been chosen by the divine bird Simurgh, he strayed from the path of glory and became an angel who punishes sinners. His name was **Azrael the Blue**. A man who reached the summit of swordsmanship— and then cast everything he possessed into the fires of Hell.
