Characters in this story

  • Elsearia The Mistress — One of oldest original characters. Made her way back in middle school, as part of a pantheon of gods. She is the last one remaining, much sad, much broken.
  • SuperManlyNekoSamma — This is my true avatar, and my persona. This is my private avatar. Note: Temporarily, I will un-private this character.
  • Waterbreath — Yep. That's me, bitches.
Story transcript

Waterbreath: Look... sorry for busting in like the Kool-Aid Man and smashing your TV.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: ...Mm.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: I was being an ass. We're good.

Waterbreath: ...Just like that?

SuperManlyNekoSamma: Just like that. Now drink before I change my mind.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: So. The Meta-Gurl thing. The whole Speed stunt with the Bus Driver.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: Be real. You only did all that because you like Elsearia. Right?

Waterbreath: ...Partly. I'll admit that. But that wasn't the only reason.

Waterbreath: Meta-Gurl deserved better than what that asshole did to her. I did it because it was the right thing to do.

Waterbreath: And no... I don't expect anything from Elsearia for it. That's not how I roll.

Waterbreath: Neko... what happened to Elsearia's husband? She mentioned him once. Ego Death. I still don't fully get what that means.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: His consciousness is gone. But his body keeps going. He's a true immortal. Can't die. Can't stop.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: Imagine someone walking, breathing, existing... but there's nobody inside.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: The person who loved her, who knew her name... just stopped being there one day.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: And sometimes... rarely... he comes back. Just for a moment. His eyes focus. He recognizes her.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: Then he's gone again. And she's left holding the memory of a man who was just there five seconds ago.

Waterbreath: ...Every time?

Waterbreath: Can it be fixed? Can you bring him back?

SuperManlyNekoSamma: Technically? Yes. His mind could be restored.

Waterbreath: Then do it. Please. If you can give her that back, I'm asking you to do it.

Waterbreath: Even if it means I never have a chance with her. I don't care. She deserves her husband back.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: ...You'd give up your shot. Just like that.

Waterbreath: If it makes her happy? Yeah. Without hesitation.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: It's cute you care so much, and she also had the same idea too. But...

SuperManlyNekoSamma: I can't. And I won't. Because the result would be worse than what she's living with now.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: The scars from that long without a self don't heal. You'd give her back a man who can't stop suffering.

Waterbreath: ...Fuck.

Waterbreath: That's the worst answer you could've given me. Because I can't even be mad at you for it.

Waterbreath: I just want her to be happy, man. That's all I want.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: ...I know you do.

SuperManlyNekoSamma: She's important to me too. Just... be patient with her. That's all I'll say.

Elsearia The Mistress: ...You foolish, foolish man.

Elsearia The Mistress: ...You actually mean it, don't you?
