Story transcript

Piccolo: These creatures are barely worth our time. Only good for building stamina.

Rudeus: Easy for you to say... I'm already feeling the drain.

Near: I see something... By the structural pillar, above the shelves. A light, several lights. I think their people are over there on a platform.

Rudeus: How does someone who only drinks melted ice water have this much stamina?

Piccolo: Dedication. Strength means nothing without focus and precision.

Near: Piccolo, there is a bog one comming this way...

Rudeus: My Foresight Eye shows... Wow, that is a big boy. Guess they're trying to match you, Mr.Piccolo.

Piccolo: Hmm... If Near were not here, I would gladly take it on. But if it's strong enough, it will put Near in danger.

Rudeus: Dont worry, I will keep Near safe. Were going to need his brains once the tournament begins. Should I take Near to the platform then?

Near: Multiple of the staff monsters have begun to merge... they're merging into something bigger.

Rudeus: How much bigger are we talking? Because I'm already running low on mana.

Piccolo: Rudeus, take the strategist and find higher ground. Use those shelves as your battlefield.

Rudeus: What about you? That thing looks like it ate a ton of its friends.

Piccolo: I haven't even started to warm up. This is just... stretching.

Rudeus: Having a warrior who can back up that kind of confidence definitely helps me sleep at night.

Near: Our companion's power level just spiked. He looks like he is actually looking forward to this.

Rudeus: Piccolo-san's always been like that. The more hopeless it looks, the more he smiles.

Piccolo: Finally, something that might last more than five seconds.

Rudeus: Try not to destroy half the store! We still need to find those meatballs!

Piccolo: Priorities, Rudeus. We're fighting for our lives and you're worried about Swedish cuisine.

Near: Actually... the cafeteria might be our only exit point. The spatial anomaly seems to center there; look at how the hanging lights sway.

Rudeus: So we're fighting for meatballs AND our lives. That's... very on-brand for us.

Near: Statistically speaking, shopping while being hunted by interdimensional staff has a 97% failure rate.

Piccolo: Then let's be the 3%. Come on, ugly, show me what happens when furniture store employees unionize.
