Brock: Hey, Serena? Mind if I ask why you didn't want to battle for the Boulder Badge as well?
Serena: I'm... not very good at battling. I didn't want to embarrass myself.
Brock: Heh. That shouldn't matter.
Serena: What do you mean?
Brock: Being a Gym Leader taught me something. Just like there's many types of Pokémon... there's many types of people.
Brock: I've battled people who took it way too seriously, people who didn't take it seriously enough, people who won through brute force, others through strategy... all kinds.
Brock: But the best ones? They weren't always the ones who won. They were the ones having fun. I could see how much they put themselves out there with their Pokémon.
Brock: You might not know what you want to do yet. But as long as you stay true to yourself and what brings you joy... you'll be okay, Serena.
Serena: ...Thank you, Brock.
Brock: Hey, it's no problem.
Serena: W-What was that?!
Brock: Behind us...!
