Ruby: It's weird thinking about the movie now.
Akane: Because it's finished?
Ruby: Yeah. We spent so long filming it that it almost feels strange not having another rehearsal tomorrow.
Akane: I know what you mean.
Ruby: Actually… there's something I've wanted to thank you for.
Akane: Me?
Ruby: For giving up your audition for Ai.
Ruby: You could've been a really good Ai too.
Akane: No.
Ruby: Why not?
Akane: Because of you.
Akane: When I watched you during rehearsals, I realized something. You were the person who should play Ai.
Ruby: But you were already a really experienced actress.
Akane: That doesn't mean I was right for her.
Akane: If I had played Ai, I think I'd have spent too much time trying to reconstruct her.
Akane: Her expressions, her gestures, the way she smiled, the way she spoke…
Akane: I would've been copying Ai.
Ruby: But you weren't.
Akane: You had something I couldn't reproduce. Ai was your mother.
Akane: You knew her in a way I never could.
Akane: Even when you were acting, there were little things that came naturally to you.
Ruby: Even though I was terrible at acting at first?
Akane: You weren't terrible.
Ruby: I absolutely was.
Akane: You had a lot to learn.
Ruby: That's just a polite way of saying I was terrible.
Akane: Fine. You were inexperienced.
Ruby: See?
Akane: But you improved quickly.
Ruby: I still feel like we did way too many reshoots.
Akane: We did.
Ruby: And I kept messing up.
Akane: You did.
Ruby: Akane!
Akane: Honestly, Ruby, your performance was much better than my first attempt at something like that.
Ruby: Really?
Akane: Really. And there's one scene in particular where I don't think I could have done what you did.
Ruby: The last scene?
Akane: That one.
Akane: I could've studied Ai for years and still not been able to accurately portray what that scene meant to you.
Akane: I could understand the character intellectually, but you had memories and feelings connected to her.
Ruby: Thanks.
Akane: I mean it.
Ruby: Hopefully, when the time comes, you'll teach me more.
Akane: When the time comes?
Ruby: Yeah. I'm still going to need to improve, you know.
Akane: Sure thing.
Ruby: I'll call you anytime.
Akane: Anytime.
Ruby: This is me.
Akane: See you tomorrow.
Ruby: See you.
Ruby: Akane!
Akane: Hmm?
Ruby: Thanks again.
Akane: You're welcome, Ruby.
